Win the ultimate MK2 Golf, the Rallye.
In 1989 VW created the Rallye homologation special called the Golf Rallye (or Rallye Golf, whatever you fancy). This car was developed to comply to the FIA standard so they could compete in the FIA WRC. One of the demands of these standards was that a car which raced in WRC had to have a production volume of at least 5000. Eventually they built 5071 of those. And apart from the external differences one of the main changes was the Rallye being AWD.
This one however has been vastly updated & improved its previous owner who decided to give the Rallye the power it should of had, from factory they had just over 160hp, this one has over double. However this wasn't cheap with over 30k in parts alone being spent on it!
The car is running on Standalone Emerald management with power currently set at 320hp with the rev limit at 6000rpm. Only 3500miles completed since the full engine rebuild. With larger injectors and a remap 420hp+ will be easily achieved, and with the modern EFR turbo it kicks in low down! Switchable maps can be added via the selector on the dash too.
The underside has been completely stripped to bare metal, sealed, stone-chipped and painted body colour using a rollover jig. Original seats were reinstated to bring back some originality with subtle modifications and improvements everywhere you look.
Also this one has been converted to RHD, which makes it far easier to use on the UK Roads.
